Wirral

Well, I was thinking that there was nothing to say about the Wirral until a certain headline just grabbed my attention. You can't really get more intriguing than "Wirral pet shop owner denies selling monkeys illegally after police raid store" now can you. I really don't think I want to read this in case it doesn't live up to the title. I'm never to sure about Wirral anyway, I know it's near Birkenhead, which is near Liverpool. I know it's a peninsula [latin paena almost & insula island] but after that I really haven't got a clue, I wouldn't know where to start, I was to go to Merseyside I wouldn't know the best hotels in the Wirral are, don't know the best reastaurants don't even know if they have a fitba team, except Liverpool of course. But I'm not sure if that counts.

Not that I'm going there, I just loved that title, and felt I should share it with the world.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland is truly one of the most beautiful, yet compact cities in the world. Yes, it isn't as big as London, Birmingham or even Glasgow, but it has more to offer than those cities, in my humble opinion.

Edinburgh has beautifully scenic views from almost every part of the city, especially the views from the new town over on to the old town. The new town was built to house the rapid expansion of Edinburgh during the Georgian and Edwardian eras, and it is from this period that we find some of the most beautiful buildings in the city.

Many of the larger buildings have now been converted into some of the finests hotels in Edinburgh, most of these afford a fantastic view of both the Castle and the lovely Princes Street Gardens.

Add onto this all the Government bodies now located in Edinburgh, the close proximity of the Theatres, Museums, libraries, restaurants, and Edinburgh makes a fantastic place to visit, for either just a short break or for a lengthy holiday.

Glasgow smiles better, but Edinburgh's miles better.

Marks & Spencers

Marks and Spencers that company famed throughout the whole of the United Kingdom for it's quality and respected for its integrity has been branching out over the last couple of years into newer and more modern things.

In recent times M&S have branched into furniture and televisions, their shops have started selling branded food products alongside their own, my local store has its own cafe, now there is even M&S energy available. all this from a tiny little market stall.

It is interesting to note that Marks and Sparks have moved beyond that simple name brand in recent years to include other sub-brands such as Per Una & Autograph moving against tradition. Whilst we can hardly envisage the day when they seriously rival stores such as the supermarkets of our day, with the loss of Woolworths, Boots and Marks & Spencers are the only leading major High Street retailers left in Britain. You are virtually guaranteed to find one in every major town across the land.

I'm going to keep watching them closely in the future to see what developments if any happen.

PR, PR, or PR

It has been a time of PR recently: Press Releases, Proportional Representation, Personal Resources and that other one nobody else thinks about. The first three are the same as every other day in my love I don't have to go on about it, you have it in your lives.

But the main one is that named after one of the main googlistas Larry Page:he was the man that invented the google algorithm and therefore he invented PageRank. For all of the unintitiated out there PageRank is google's method of rating the worth of any website, it does this by checking how many other relevant pages link to any page, and does a big computation.

Anyway one of my nonsense blogs, executive.ninja.link.monkey now has a pagerank of 1 [hey it's a start]. And that's one of the main things that people who do search engine optimisation care about, links and pagerank.

Anyway, this better be the start of bigger things to come, as I want pagerank everywhere, and I want more chrome extensions, and I want more money ...................................................... [better go now]

Replace your central heating system now!

I know it seems counter-intuitive, counter-productive and any other counter-thing you can think about. But if you think it through, you would see that the time that all the engineers are at their busiest is the middle of the winter, and certainly not the weeks building into summer. On top of that all the companies are facing a dearth of people wishing to replace their old boilers etc, so now is the time that they are more likely to offer discounts.

I know that everyone is tightening their belts at the moment but surely it would much better to replace your central heating before it breaks, and not afterward when it is more likely to cost you far more, and it is more likely that you need the heat.

Of course this doesn't mean to have to rush into it blindly, there are many places out there where you can explore the possibilities, the ins and outs of this somewhat large decision.

Invisible Hippo PR

I just discovered [well was discovered by] a friend on facebook which was cool because that is the cool thing about facebook. Unlike some other things I could mention, but the oatmeal did a whole lot better.

Anyway now she's doing pr for alternative music which is always cooler than listening to most stuff, check out her site [and blog] at invisible hippo, and any kids with guitars out there, forget signing up for a major label [unless you get a huge advance, then take the money and run], cos we all know that mainstream is dead.

You have been forewarned, the invisible hippo is coming to get you.

Verve Grill

We were getting a bit sick of pizzas and ready meals the other night so somebody [ie the other half] decided that we were going out. It was decided that we were going out for something "traditional" and the nearest place was the Verve Grill in a local hotel. Now I can't say I am against grills in as of themselves, but it still seems like well-burnt meat in my brain [not quite pizza then].

I was therefore pleasantly taken aback when I was immediately reminded how good a steak can be just by those brown burnt stripes [I'm not sure if they have words for them], when my steak was served I almost forgot my cardinal rule to eat the best bits last and almost dived in. But I managed, just, strangely enough the other half still had enough space for a desert [again, I don't know...].

I'm not sure about eating in hotels, but I liked what I ate, maybe it was because I wasn't a guest.....
